James 1:22 says “Be a doer of the word and not a hearer only”. We are responsible for our own lives. However, as children of God we must understand that we have God on our side. We must commit ourselves to him and act upon his words. If we say we believe in the word but have no faith in it, we are not acting on God’s word.
Despite our circumstances and what is going on in current events, we must continue to trust in the God we serve. Trust that God’s words are true and that he is already working things out. I know that there are many people hurting due to what is taking place around us. We have all right to be hurt, disappointed and confused. But! let us not allow our troubles to steal the hope and faith we have in Christ. Instead, “Let us pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you [and I]”. – 1 Thessalonians 517-18. “Let us rejoice always” (16).
So, no matter what your situation, act upon the word and be a doer of the word of God. Remember that we are responsible for our lives and our decisions.
